Exchanging Data Between SLIM-Suite Applications

SLIM-Suite applications support every stage of the software development lifecycle, from initiation to closeout. Many data elements about the project environment, application type, software size, staffing, and more are exchanged between applications to maintain consistent, accurate project intelligence.

For example, when a new project starts and you are ready to track actual performance against the plan using SLIM-Control, you have the option to create your new workbook based on an existing project estimate created in SLIM-Estimate.  Likewise, SLIM-DataManager, QSM’s historical project repository, lets you import SLIM-Estimate and SLIM-Control projects to support the comparison of estimates versus actuals, record lessons learned, and increase data accuracy.

  • Load History – completed projects from SLIM-DataManager
  • Import Reference Trends – from SLIM-Estimate or SLIM-Metrics
  • Create an estimate based on a Completed Project – SLIM-DataManager
  • Re-estimate an In-flight Project – SLIM-Control
SLIM-Control
  • Create a project plan based on a SLIM-Estimate project
  • Create a project plan based on a completed project (SLIM-DataManager)
  • Import Reference Trends – from SLIM-Estimate or SLIM-Metrics
SLIM-DataManager
  • Import project from SLIM-DataManager, SLIM-Estimate, or SLIM-Control
SLIM-Metrics
  • Link to SLIM-DataManager database
SLIM-MasterPlan
  • Insert SLIM-Estimate project (subtask)
  • Insert SLIM-Control project (subtask – plan, actuals + forecast)

SLIM-Collaborate
  • Import Reference Trends – from SLIM-Estimate or SLIM-Metrics

NOTE: SLIM applications enable you to calculate multiple estimate solutions, plans, and forecasts. Therefore, it is essential to understand that only data from the Current Solution is exchanged between applications.
